Christian Pogreba
Hearing Instrument Specialist, President

Christian was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but has lived in Virginia for over a decade. He met his wife, Vanessa, while she was in college and they married upon her graduation. They lived in Colorado for 3 years and moved to Virginia to establish a home and start a family in 1999. He and Vanessa have four wonderful boys, Tristan, Jabin, Kieran, and Graesen. They are very active members of the community.

Christian began his career in the Hearing Industry in early 2000 as a Regional Manager for American Hearing Aid Associates (AHAA). He worked mainly with the development of hearing practices. He realized the impact that helping an individual to hear once again can have. He knew he wanted to have a more active role in helping people. After 3 years of traveling with AHAA he knew it was the time to make a change, not only for himself but also for his young children. In 2003 Christian began the education necessary to become a Hearing Instrument Specialist.

In 2004 Christian opened the doors on the first practice in Waynesboro. Charlottesville closely followed and opened in 2005. In 2007 he had the opportunity to purchase his own business space in Fishersville and in September of 2007 the Waynesboro office location was moved to 1534 Jefferson Hwy. in Fishersville. A third location in Lexington opened in January of 2008. In 2009 three more locations opened in Harrisonburg, Culpeper, and Covington.

Christian loves working with people and helping them regain the conversational ability they have lost. He realizes that as we age we have a lot to share and if we are hearing impaired, that limits our ability to have truly meaningful conversations. Christian’s easy going approach, patience, care and listening ability has been able to help several thousand people regain a hearing lifestyle. He is thrilled to help so many who have thought they would never be able to successfully wear a hearing instrument. He looks forward to meeting you and helping you hear what you may be missing.

Vanessa Pogreba
Business Management

Vanessa was born in Minot, North Dakota. Her parents moved a lot and lived in Western Virginia during her middle and high school years. She enjoyed it so much that she swore that one day the Shenandoah Valley would be her permanent home. Vanessa graduated from North Dakota State College of Science as a Registered Dental Hygienist. Vanessa returned to Augusta County in 1999. Shortly after the move, she gave birth to a son and adopted another son, and found out she was pregnant again. So in 1 short year a family of 3 young boys was established. The youngest son was added in 2006 to round out the number to 4 very active little men. Vanessa stayed at home to raise the boys. When Christian started his education to open his own hearing practice, Vanessa initially had to work more outside of the home. Now she is again able to stay home and raise their four boys. She works closely with Hearing Healthcare of Virginia behind the scenes. She does all the Business Management and Coordination of the Offices. Vanessa is rarely physically in the office but she is always available via phone and e-mail for whatever the need may be.

Krystal Lott
Marketing Coordinator Krystal joined the team of Hearing Healthcare of Virginia in July of 2009. Krystal coordinates the marketing, events, physician referral program, assisted living seminars, and corporate discount program for all locations of Hearing Healthcare of Virginia. Krystal was born and raised in Marshall, Virginia. She attended UVA and JMU, studying Marketing and Spanish and holds a degree in Business Administration. Krystal currently lives in Harrisonburg, but travels to all of the locations. She strives to inform the communities about our family-owned, locally-run company because she truly cares about helping people with hearing loss and enjoys working with people in the local community. She feels personally connected to the importance of hearing after growing up in a home that had to deal with the difficulty of hearing loss and of fitting custom instruments. Krystal “really believes in the sincere, caring staff at Hearing Healthcare of Virginia and the high quality products we use to help solve people’s hearing problems.” Krystal’s energy and enthusiasm is a welcome addition to our offices. We are sure you will enjoy meeting Krystal.

Barry Magrogan
Accounting

Barry Magrogan joined the team of Hearing Healthcare of Virginia in April of 2010 after first coming to us for help with his own hearing needs. Barry organizes and reviews all accounts payable and handles outgoing and incoming receipts. His expertise in business has also proven valuable in assisting in other areas of HHVA administration. Barry has a Bachelor Degree from the University of Baltimore in Accounting. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland and grew up both there and in Ellicott City. Barry has been married for close to 40 years and has one daughter and four fabulous grandchildren. Through his own experience he understands the nuances of “learning” to hear again. He encourages all to “Listen, because that is the only way we can truly communicate and hear others praise us.” Barry has been a wonderful addition to the staff. He often works out of the public eye but his efforts are seen in all aspects of HHVA.

Faye Sutherland
Patient Care Coordinator

Faye joined Hearing Healthcare of Virginia in July of 2009. Faye came to Hearing Healthcare with a strong background in the medical field, predominantly in Optometry. Faye is involved in the promoting of Free Hearing tests via the telephone. Her beautiful voice and easy manner made her a great addition to the team. If you have met Faye or spoken to her on the phone, you no doubt know why she is a perfect fit. She was born in Harrisonburg, Virginia and spent most of her growing up in Weyers Cave. She now resides in Staunton, Virginia with her husband of over forty years, Luther Sutherland. She also shares her home with her two beloved cats, Hobo and Fancy. Faye’s business motto is “always be professional and kind.” If you have the opportunity to speak with Faye, we’re sure you’ll appreciate both of those qualities in her.
