Roger Merchant joined the office of Hearing Healthcare of Virginia in May of 2005. Roger is the Hearing Instrument Specialist in the Fishersville office. Roger was born and raised in Augusta County, the sixth of seven children. He has been married for over 14 years to his wife Beverly. They are the proud parents of 3 wonderful children, Evan, Alex, and Avery. His parents instilled a strong work ethic in him which became well honed as a successful business owner for several years. His keen desire to interact more directly with people and to significantly make a difference in their lives motivated him to become a licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist. Roger says, “I can’t even call this a job because I enjoy helping people to hear again so much! Another thing I love is the enjoyment of working with a group of caring and dedicated co-workers.” We are privileged to have Roger join our team. Melanie Shields
Patient Care Coordinator

Melanie was born in Rockford, Illinois, was raised in Coeburn, Virginia, and currently lives in Augusta County. She and her husband Sam have 2 wonderful boys, Kodi and Dustin. Melanie acquired her education in Coeburn as well as Staunton. Melanie comes to Hearing Healthcare of Virginia with a strong background in customer service both in the restaurant and the hotel industry. For over 14 years Melanie has been involved in customer relations, in both a secretarial and administrative capacity. Hearing Healthcare of Virginia was privileged to have Melanie join their team in July 2006. She provides invaluable service as the Scheduling and Office Coordinator for the Fishersville location. She is always ready with a smile and a willing attitude. When you speak to Melanie you cannot help but sense her care and compassion and her genuine interest in you as a person. We are sure you will feel the same when you meet Melanie.

Vanessa Pogreba
Business Management

Vanessa was born in Minot, North Dakota. Her parents moved a lot and lived in Western Virginia during her middle and high school years. She enjoyed it so much that she swore that one day the Shenandoah Valley would be her permanent home. Vanessa graduated from North Dakota State College of Science as a Registered Dental Hygienist. Vanessa returned to Augusta County in 1999. Shortly after the move, she gave birth to a son and adopted another son, and found out she was pregnant again. So in 1 short year a family of 3 young boys was established. The youngest son was added in 2006 to round out the number to 4 very active little men. Vanessa stayed at home to raise the boys. When Christian started his education to open his own hearing practice, Vanessa initially had to work more outside of the home. Now she is again able to stay home and raise their four boys. She works closely with Hearing Healthcare of Virginia behind the scenes. She does all the Business Management and Coordination of the Offices. Vanessa is rarely physically in the office but she is always available via phone and e-mail for whatever the need may be.

Faye Sutherland
Patient Care Coordinator

Faye joined Hearing Healthcare of Virginia in July of 2009. She came to our team with a strong background in the medical field, predominantly in Optometry. She is involved in the promoting of Free Hearing tests via the telephone. Her beautiful voice and easy manner made her a great addition to the team. If you have met Faye or spoken to her on the phone, you no doubt know why she is a perfect fit. She was born in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and grew up in the Weyers Cave area. She now resides near Staunton, Virginia, with her husband of over forty years, Luther Sutherland. Faye’s business motto is “always be professional and kind.” If you have the opportunity to speak with Faye, we’re sure you’ll appreciate both of those qualities in her.
